CleanYourHands campaign launches third year
On the 18th October at St Bartholomew's hospital London, the National Patient Safety Agency (a branch of the NHS) launched the third year of its cleanyourhands campaign. A campaign designed to educate and inform healthcare workers to the risk poor hand hygiene plays in spreading infection within our hospitals. The latest phase sees the cleanyourhands campaign branching out to include other health and social care settings.
The latest phase of the campaign has been designed with a harder hitting, eye catching message. This is in response to research done by the National Patient Safety Agency that showed staff and patients felt "the posters need to talk directly to 'you.'" A previous incarnation of the current campaign won the 2005 Integrated Campaigns category in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
All this comes in the recent wake of renewed public concern over MRSA infection within our hospitals, following the publication of NHS trust league tables.
